Leithfield harness racing trainer Robbie Holmes has a big team engaged at the Rangiora races on Sunday.
The Holmes stable is racing in good form with several of the team in with winning chances in their prospective races.
His best chance of gaining a win is with a two pronged attack in race 9 which is the “PHIL & BEV WILLIAMSON OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TROT”
Robbie has both Dragon Boy and Redwood Invasion in the race and has chosen to drive Dragon Boy. Dragon Boy (Thanksgiving – Sun Dragon) is on the up after winning his last race comfortably and would only need good manners to be a major chance in the race.
Stablemate Redwood Invasion is another in with a good chance if he does everything right. He is a bit of a flighty horse who can gallop when you least expect it but does have ability. Redwood Invasion (Sundon – Annsmenan) is a full brother to 5 race winner Donsmedad who is trained by Greg and Nina Hope.
Driver Gerard thought Redwood Invasion (Sundon – Annsmenan) was his best drive of the day if he trotted all the way.
In the last race Robbie has last start winner The Kiwi Way (Mach Three – Kiwi Ingenuity) entered. Out of top mare Kiwi Ingenuity, The Kiwi Way has the draw to either lead or trail and he ran a good third at the Rangiora workouts on Tuesday.
Other winning chances for the Holmes stable include Gabby’s Star in Race 3 and both Markim and As Kiwi As in Race 1 which is an Amateur Drivers race.
